Managing Production Centers

In this article

Gain control over the critical locations where the cleaning actually happens.

Why use Production Centers?

  • Track the flow: See exactly where every bag is in the cleaning journey—from washing and drying to pressing and folding—so nothing gets lost.
  • Balance workload: Monitor what your machines and finishing stations are handling right now to prevent bottlenecks during peak times.
  • Streamline intake: Efficiently receive incoming dirty laundry (transfer totes or direct drop-offs) and get them queued for processing immediately.

Video Guide

Note: The "Business Unit" and "Order Source" settings shown in this guide are examples. Please adjust these configurations to match your specific business needs and workflow.

Understanding Center Name

The Center Name acts as the unique identifier for this specific operational facility or processing hub within your system. This name will be displayed throughout the platform in reports, job routing tables, and location lists.

Best Practice:

Choose a clear, descriptive name that easily distinguishes it from other locations (e.g., "Northside Fulfillment Hub" or "Main Processing Depot").

Understanding Fixed Assignments

Fixed Assignments determine the automated scope of work for this production center. This section allows you to define hard rules that automatically route specific types of incoming orders directly to this facility, bypassing manual assignment.

To configure these rules, you need to understand the two key components involved:

  • Business Unit: This represents the category of service being requested. Think of these as the distinct lines of work you offer—such as "Laundry & Dry Cleaning", "Alterations", "Handyman Services", or Others.
  • Order Source: This indicates the origin channel where the order was placed. This helps distinguish orders coming from different sales channels, such as your primary mobile app, a web portal, or a specific B2B partner integration.

How it works in practice: By selecting Business Units from the dropdown list to create a fixed assignment, you are telling the system: "Any incoming order belonging to these specific categories needs to be processed at this center."

Using These Settings to Optimize Flow

Use these settings to establish a structured and efficient operational network. By properly configuring a center's name and its fixed assignments, you automate the decision-making process for order fulfillment. This ensures that every job is instantly directed to the facility best equipped to handle it, reducing manual coordination and speeding up turnaround times.
