Configuring Order Types

Configuring Order Types

You have defined your names: Status Library, and your logic: Workflows. This final step connects everything together by assigning that logic to the actual services your business offers.

Within the Order Management section, you can define specific Order Types to differentiate between the various services you provide. We'll use a Home Delivery Sales Order Type as a practical example to demonstrate this process.

Creating and Linking a New Order Type

To create your own unique Order Type:

  1. Enter a meaningful name: Enter a descriptive name for the new Order Type (e.g., "Home Delivery," "Repair").
  2. Link the Workflows: In the template, you will use the dropdown menus to select the specific workflows you built for the corresponding phases: Intake, Production, and Fulfillment workflows.
  3. Finalise: Once you have linked all the required workflows, click on Create.
note:
Did you follow the previous steps on creating the Status Library and Workflows? If so, you'll recognise this location! The Order Types configuration is found in the same Order Management module. Quick Path: Navigate to Settings > Operations > Order Management, select Order Types, and click the + Add Sales Order Type button to begin.

Your Order Type is now active! When a user starts a sales order and selects this new type, the system will automatically enforce the specific logic (Workflow) you assigned, guaranteeing the correct operational path is followed every time.
