Pipelines only take effect once a business unit uses them. In the current console this is done in the **Business Units** settings, where each business unit is assigned its pre-production, production, and completion & handover pipelines — with separate choices for online orders and POS / shop orders.

In older versions of the console, this was done on the **Order Types** tab under Settings → Operations → Order Management. That page is now in the **Deprecated** section of Settings. Use the Business Units path below instead.

### Assigning Pipelines to a Business Unit

1. Click the <Badge>Settings</Badge> (gear icon) in the top navigation.

2. Scroll to the **Administration** section and click <Badge>Business Units</Badge>.

3. If you have more than one business unit, select the one you want at the top of the page.

4. Scroll to the **Order Pipeline** section. Here you assign the pipelines you built earlier:

   - <Badge>Online Pre-Production</Badge> — the pre-production pipeline(s) used for online orders. Choose "None (start at production)" if online orders should skip pre-production.

   - <Badge>POS / Shop Pre-Production</Badge> — the pre-production pipeline(s) used for orders created at the counter. Choose "None (start at production)" to skip.

   - <Badge>Production Pipeline</Badge> — the single production pipeline all orders in this business unit go through.

   - <Badge>Online Completion & Handover Pipelines</Badge> — how online orders are handed over (e.g. Home Delivery).

   - <Badge>POS / Shop Completion & Handover Pipelines</Badge> — how counter orders are handed over (e.g. Shop Pickup).

5. Click <Badge>Save</Badge>. You will see a confirmation that the order pipeline was updated.

You can assign more than one pre-production and completion & handover pipeline per channel. When staff create an order, the system uses the pipeline that matches the order — for example a home delivery order follows your Home Delivery handover pipeline, while a shop collection order follows Shop Pickup.

Your setup is now active! When a user starts a sales order under this business unit, the system automatically follows the pipelines you assigned, guaranteeing the correct operational path is followed every time.
